In fact, the horror comes rather lat er and it's the mys tery that hooks from the beginning. There is a very p leasing blur between horror and mystery in the plot.

Speaking of slow re veals, that was probably my favorit e thing about this title. I found that a disappointing hole in the book in light of what is slowly reveal ed about Allison. Her desi re to rekindle this, and the conflict that arises with her boyfriend (Michael) b ecause of it, was an interesting angle that wasn't really purs u ed beyond what was convenient for the plot. Along with the visit to her childhood home, the mental and ph ysical stress she is experiencing ha ve inspired her to re-ex plore her Catholic faith. She suffers from acute, blinding migrain es sporadic paralysis and bl ackouts. The neighbors in her new apartment building take quirky to an entirely different level.Īllison's physical health also seems to have deteriorated. As she trie s to settle back in with work and friends, her o ver-bearing and prickly boyfriend turns out to be the least of her daily annoyances. She left 7 years ago due to traumatic events within the family and her father's funeral has brought all those memories to the forefront.

Allison Parker has returned to New York after spending 4 months at her family's home.
